Wyong Creek – Polished Concrete Topping Slab
Set amongst the natural surrounds of Wyong Creek, this project showcases the versatility and beauty of polished concrete in a contemporary rural residence. Working closely with the builder and homeowner, Diagrind NSW transformed a 100mm concrete topping slab into a seamless, highly refined polished concrete floor that flows throughout the home.
The floor was mechanically ground and polished to expose the carefully selected aggregate blend, creating a subtle terrazzo-like appearance that complements the home's stone feature walls, timber joinery and expansive glazing. The polished finish reflects natural light throughout the living spaces while providing a durable, low-maintenance surface designed to withstand everyday family living.
A standout feature of the project was the custom concrete fireplace surround, cast and polished to match the flooring. The bespoke surround creates a cohesive connection between the architectural stonework and polished concrete finishes, becoming a striking focal point within the main living area.
The completed floor delivers a timeless aesthetic, balancing the warmth of natural timber and stone with the clean, refined appearance of polished concrete. The result is a sophisticated yet practical finish that perfectly suits the home's connection to its surrounding landscape.
