Wagstaffe Residence – Burnished Concrete Flooring

Perched on the waterfront at Wagstaffe, this architecturally designed residence combines contemporary coastal living with a refined material palette. Working alongside The Beholder Styling + Design and Adtecht Construction Group, Diagrind NSW was engaged to deliver a premium burnished concrete floor that would complement the home's expansive glazing, natural light and high-end finishes.

The burnished concrete finish was selected for its seamless appearance, durability and ability to enhance the natural character of the concrete slab. Completed shortly after the concrete pour, the process involved a series of carefully controlled grinding, densifying and polishing stages designed to refine the surface while preserving the unique movement and tonal variation within the concrete.

The result is a floor that changes throughout the day as natural light moves through the home. Large waterfront windows flood the interior with sunlight, creating striking reflections and highlighting the subtle cloud-like character that makes every burnished concrete floor unique. The polished surface provides a sophisticated yet understated backdrop to the warm timber joinery, natural stone island and contemporary architectural details throughout the residence.

Beyond its visual appeal, the floor offers exceptional practicality for modern living. Its low-maintenance surface, durability and resistance to wear make it ideally suited to high-traffic family spaces while delivering the timeless aesthetic sought by the design team.

This project demonstrates how burnished concrete can elevate a contemporary home, creating a seamless connection between architecture, interior design and the surrounding coastal environment.

"A floor designed to reflect both the architecture and the waterfront setting, delivering a finish that is as practical as it is visually striking."
